Faith In The Valley

Faith In The Valley

One of the toughest things to have in the valley is faith. Lets face it, chances are you did not land in the valley overnight. Chances are you’ve been in a gruelling situation for months or years, that started off as a small problem that eventually progressed into an even bigger problem. It's even tougher to continue to have faith, especially when you had faith in the beginning but it seems as though despite your faith, despite your hope and despite your prayers,  you landed in a far worse situation than you initially began.

A valley represents a place of dryness and a place of lack. Oftentimes, the valley is associated with emotions of hopelessness, discouragement and disappointment because you have hit rock bottom. But Child of God, it is imperative that in the valley you do not lose sight of how big a God you serve. Your own flesh and perception of the situation has to die because when you die to self, who God is becomes greater and his perception of the situation/valley becomes the only perception.

The enemy's biggest mistake is believing that God is absent and has forsaken you in the valley. In 1 Kings 20, the Arameans (Syrians) underestimated The God of The Israelites. The Arameans (Syrians) boldly declared that, The God of Israel was only God of the hills but he was not God of the valleys. This led the Syrians to plot and believe that they could defeat the King of Israel and his army in the valley. In 1 Kings 20 vs 28, God himself says, “ Because the Arameans said, “ The Lord is a God of the hills, but He is not a God of the valleys,” I will give this great army  into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

Let the valley be a place where the enemy meets your God and is defeated! If you perceive the valley as a place where God’s might and power shall be seen, you will not view the valley as a place of hopelessness but as a place of triumph.  Call upon the same God that defeated a 100 000 Aramean (Syrian) foot soldiers in the valley and caused a wall to fall on the 27 000 Aramean (Syrian) foot soldiers who had fled the valley when they saw power and might of The God of Israel. Knowing your God, will allow you to have faith in the valley.
